Mayor Brantley presented a departmental financial report and advised the council that administration is over budget due to grants and approved expenses, police is over on salaries, public works is within its allocation, the fire department is over because June salaries were paid in July, and wastewater shows a $4,000 favorable balance.
Public Works Supervisor Marlow reported routine operations are steady but called attention to an increase in signs around town and recommended the council adopt regulations and a permitting process for signage.
On wastewater operations, Mayor Brantley said the department currently has one truck that needs work and the town is looking to purchase another truck at the next meeting; no significant service issues were reported.
Mayor Brantley appointed council members to standing committees and identified chairs: Recreation (Chair: Gonzalez; members: Eagle, McManus), Public Works (Chair: Eagle; members: McManus, Gonzalez), Finance (Chair: Craig; members: Worthy, Dutton), Personnel (Chair: Worthy; members: Craig, Gonzalez), Wastewater (Chair: Dutton; members: Craig, Eagle), and Police (Chair: McManus; members: Worthy, Dutton). He emphasized committees provide oversight and should bring departmental concerns to council rather than micromanage operations.
The council moved to executive session and later returned with no action reported. The meeting adjourned after concluding business and recording minutes.
