Superintendent: Greenwood 51 marks 135th day, honors teachers and completes roof and softball-light projects

Dr. Crockett said the district had completed its 135th day of school and that seniors have about 45 instructional days remaining before graduation. He reported that district teachers were honored by the Greenwood Rotary Club and that Dr. Tony Sher was selected to the national Teacher Policy Cabinet with Teach Plus.
On facilities, Crockett told the board that a roof replacement — paid through an insurance claim after hurricane damage — was recently completed and that new softball-field lights are installed and paid for; both items were listed in the board packet under finance. "They came in and they were gone," he said of the roof crew, and staff praised the elimination of water buckets in classrooms after the repair.
He also noted the board-approved architectural agreement with Craig Gold & Davis (Greenville) to develop a refresh for WS High School and WS Middle School. Crockett said the firm visited schools, took measurements and aimed to wrap up drawings by the end of the month. Jason Vincent’s certification as a school board member was also announced and certified by county notice during the meeting.
The superintendent concluded by inviting questions and offering to follow up on packet materials; board members expressed appreciation for staff and leaders cited in the update.
