Kingsley council approves $45,965 contract for Redevelopment Ready Community planning

The Village of Kingsley Council voted July 9 to enter a contract with Progressive AE for Redevelopment Ready Community certification planning services in an amount not to exceed $45,965. The contract was approved by roll-call vote with all present members voting yes; Trustee G. Bogart was absent.
Council members briefly discussed the proposal before the vote. President Pro Tem Weger moved to proceed with the Progressive AE proposal dated June 28, 2024; Trustee McPherson seconded the motion. The council recorded the funding split as half to be covered by the Downtown Development Authority and half, $22,982.50, from the village General Fund.
The Redevelopment Ready Community (RRC) certification program helps municipalities align planning, zoning and development processes to attract and manage redevelopment projects; council members discussed funding but did not request additional materials before approving the contract.
The action was recorded as approved by roll call: yes votes from Lajko, McPherson, Weger, Wallace, Bott and Weber; no votes: none; absent: Bogart. The council proceeded to other agenda items after the vote.
