Greenwood District 51’s board approved revisions to policy DJR (purchasing thresholds) and accepted three other policies for first reading, while the superintendent updated the board on recent non‑certified hires.
Superintendent Dr Daniel Crockett said the district’s purchasing thresholds needed updating from figures set in 2004. The board moved to approve the requested revisions to policy DJR; the motion passed by voice vote. The superintendent also introduced three policies for first reading — community use of facilities (CCA), organizational chart changes (CCA) and expulsion procedures (JK‑R) — and the board voted to accept them for first approval reading.
On student discipline, Dr Crockett summarized new regulatory requirements for expulsions that require an appeal process allowing access to video evidence, counsel and the right to question witnesses; those changes are reflected in the proposed JK‑R revisions.
The superintendent also informed the board of recent ISS and support hires — Miss Bishop at the high school, Miss Coleman for ISS support and Miss Lancaster at the primary school — and noted those additions do not require board approval. The board will consider the DJR policy revisions as approved and will follow up with implementation steps for the other policy updates.
