The Hartsville City Council on May 13 approved Resolution 052504 expressing the city's intent to transfer about six acres of municipal land to Florence-Darlington Technical College (FTTC) for development of a new Hartsville campus.
City Manager Daniel Moore said FTTC has secured $30 million from the state to support the project and that the property involved is located downtown near the Fourth Street and railroad area between GSSM and the downtown core. Moore described the resolution as a letter of intent that allows FTTC to advance planning while the city continues zoning and transfer discussions.
Moore said the city expects to receive some land back once FTTC constructs required infrastructure and that the transfer will proceed through multiple steps, including further council review at key milestones. Council approved the resolution by voice vote.
The resolution does not finalize a deed transfer; it enables FTTC to proceed with planning and positions Hartsville to partner on workforce development and downtown investment.
