The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an application to create the Echo School Administrative Subdivision at its June 26, 2026, meeting in North Platte.
Chair Kent Weems called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and confirmed the board's compliance with the Nebraska Open Meetings Act. Commissioner Chris Bruns moved to approve the minutes of the June 22, 2026 commissioners meeting; Commissioner Jerry Woodruff seconded the motion, and Commissioners Joe Hewgley, Kent Weems, Micaela Wuehler, Chris Bruns and Jerry Woodruff voted "aye."
During the public comment period, Jan Knight and Beth Defreece spoke; the transcript does not record the content of their remarks. Later, Commissioner Joe Hewgley moved and Commissioner Jerry Woodruff seconded a motion to receive and order filed the treasurer’s receipts; that motion passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
The board recessed at 9:15 a.m. and the Lincoln County Board of Equalization convened. The Equalization board approved its minutes for June 23, 2025 on a motion by Commissioner Chris Bruns, seconded by Commissioner Micaela Wuehler; the vote was recorded as unanimous. No public comments or assessor-submitted certificates of correction or refund were reported to the Equalization board.
After reconvening, Commissioner Micaela Wuehler moved and Commissioner Joe Hewgley seconded approval of the application by Kimberly Merrit, Sara Boyer and Ryan Shockley for the Echo School Administrative Subdivision, described in the record as part of Government Lot 1, Section 1, Township 10 North Range 30 West of the 6th P.M., Lincoln County. Commissioners Hewgley, Weems, Wuehler, Bruns and Woodruff voted "aye," and the motion carried.
The board then heard committee reports and approved a multi-page list of claims for payment covering general county and roads expenses; the meeting record lists vendors and line-item amounts but does not single out individual claims for separate action.
