The Lincoln County Board of Education on June 30 approved routine business items including prior meeting minutes, a consent package, revised policies, payment of bills and personnel actions, the board recorded.
Under the consent agenda (items A–G) staff explained bids from three dental/vision providers and reported a decision to switch administrative providers from the district's previous arrangement with Delta Dental to a new administrator referred to in discussion as "Bento" or "Vento." Staff said the move focuses on administrative network access and timeliness of provider payments for employees and that net costs should be similar because the district is self-funded.
The board also approved five policies that completed a 30-day public review; during that discussion members asked the superintendent to clarify social-media and acceptable-use guidance for classroom apps. The superintendent said approved classroom apps (for example, class pages and certain band/athletics apps) will be vetted through an application and safety-protocol review, and that teachers should not use personal cell phones to text students directly.
Financial items included authorization to pay bills and several year-end transfers reallocating budgeted funds into the correct line items (for example, closing out purchase orders and moving funds from supplies to training accounts where needed). The superintendent described these as transfers of already-budgeted funds rather than new appropriations.
During superintendent updates, staff provided a construction progress report on the DuVall K–12 wing: interior painting and casework largely complete, tile and finish carpentry nearly finished, kitchen equipment installed, and wood flooring expected to arrive and acclimate before installation; elevator installation is in progress.
In board comments, members thanked departing board member Miss McCus for her service and discussed scheduling a presentation about the Hearts building (tentatively set for the 28th) and the possibility of holding the meeting at that site to encourage community attendance. The board adjourned and set its next meeting for Monday, July 6, 2026 at 6 p.m. at the central office in Hamlin.
