Gonzalez council adopts multiple rezoning ordinances for Diaz properties and Stella Group
Summary
The Gonzalez City Council approved four rezoning ordinances, allowing multiple parcels held by Vance/Vince Diaz Properties and Stella Group to change from residential or limited commercial designations to broader commercial zoning; the developer said the changes create a 4.5-acre commercial parcel at the front of a new development.

The Gonzalez City Council on motion adopted four rezoning ordinances (4262–4265) that approve changes requested by Vance/Vince Diaz Properties and by Stella Group.
Blake Brinson, who identified himself as the developer and owner representing Stella Group, told the council the Stella Group request is “simply just moving 2 acres from our multif family zoning to the commercial zoning. That way we can have roughly a 4.5 acre commercial parcel at the front of the development.” He said the change continues a plan the council considered last month and offered to take questions.
The ordinances approved rezoning for several parcels: a 2.96-acre parcel at 1406 North Trap Road (from C1 limited commercial to C2 commercial), a parcel at 630 West New River Street (approx. 5.98 acres from R8 single-family to C2 commercial), and a 0.44–0.49-acre parcel at 1526 North Trap Road (from R8 single-family to C2 commercial). A separate ordinance moved two acres in Conway from multi‑family residential to B1 limited business for the Stella Group project.
Council members moved and seconded each item and the roll-call votes were recorded and read aloud during the meeting. No members of the public spoke in opposition during the hearing; the developer was present to explain the request.
The council’s action formally changes zoning designations for the listed parcels and enables the developers to proceed under commercial zoning rules. The council’s minutes will specify the ordinances’ effective dates and any conditions attached to approvals.
