The Lake Odessa Area Arts Commission said it has received 60 artisan applications and 74 booth-space purchases for its 2026 Art in the Park, and voted to reduce the event’s Title Sponsor fee from $2,000 to $1,500.
Chair Meg Hermes moved to lower the Title Sponsor level; the motion, supported by Karen Banks, carried unanimously. Banks will rework the sponsorship-level chart and circulate it to commission members for review.
Commission members reviewed event logistics: Nancy Mattson reported a referral for a potential food vendor, Chickie's Bevi Bar, and will attempt to contact the vendor to confirm utility needs and site placement. Melanie Baker said she will confirm entertainment bookings — including Center Stage Dance Academy, a fee for Michael Hulett and outreach to the LaJoye ensemble — and return with firm commitments.
Members also discussed family programming. Elizabeth Stoneman asked that the commission bring back 'Chalk the Walk' with more advance publicity and proposed a children’s gardening activity; she will contact Zion Lutheran Church (Martha Yoder) and the library about participation. Chair Hermes said she will contact Chief Perkins of the fire department to discuss food-vendor logistics and possibilities for overnight site security.
The commission also agreed by consensus to change the Visitors Guide from a book-style publication to a single-page flier. Next steps listed by commissioners include Banks’ revised sponsorship chart, Mattson’s vendor outreach and Baker’s entertainment confirmations.
