Resident Casey Niheiser urges Avon to address loud music from nearby restaurant

Casey Niheiser, a resident of 7764 Cobble Springs Drive, told the Avon Town Council that persistent loud live music from a nearby restaurant is disrupting her household and neighbors and could depress property values.

"I've lived in my home for 29 years and never have I had that kind of noise coming from it," Niheiser said during the council's public-comment period. She described bass that "beats on my house," said open bay doors at the restaurant amplify sound toward nearby back doors, and asked whether the venue could close bay doors when bands play as a starting mitigation.

Town staff acknowledged the complaint and said the town had ordered decibel measurements. The council was told staff member Drew would follow up with Niheiser to report whether readings exceeded local ordinance limits. "We did get the request through our complaint system today and I think Drew was going to reach out to Mr. Niheiser as well," a council member said during the meeting.

Niheiser emphasized the small number of properties affected but said that did not make the problem less serious: "We're kind of being left out because there aren't very many of us affected." She said she could hear "every word they're singing" from her back deck even with windows and doors closed.

Town staff said they will communicate with the property owner and the restaurant to pursue remedial measures if readings exceed ordinance thresholds.
