The Auburndale City Commission on June 15 approved staff rankings of design‑build teams for a planned Public Works facility at 915 Charles Avenue and authorized the City Manager to begin contract negotiations with the top‑ranked firm.
City Manager Jeffrey Brown said the city advertised an RFQ on Feb. 23, 2026, received four qualified proposals and convened a selection committee that heard May 26 presentations. The committee ranked SpringerVoss Construction first, followed by SEMCO Construction, RC Stevens and Henkelman Construction. Staff listed a project budget of $1,880,000.
Approval by the commission authorizes the City Manager to negotiate with the top‑ranked firm; state procurement rules allow negotiations to continue with the second‑ and third‑ranked firms if a satisfactory contract cannot be reached. Vice Mayor Jordan Helms moved to approve the rankings and Commissioner Sean Levy seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
A formal design‑build contract will be presented to the Commission after successful negotiations and a recommended contract is ready for final approval.
