During its Dec. 8 meeting the Lakewood Board of Education recognized the Circle of Excellence honorees across multiple subject areas and received a student representative report on upcoming activities.
President J. Brodbeck-Krenz called attention to the Circle of Excellence recipients: Emry Evan (English); Carter Bradley and Gage Wells (Fine Arts); Logan Gregaitis (Mathematics); Jedidiah Lab (Physical Education); John Brodbeck (School Business); Kyra Dennie (Science); Mylie Carter and Raelin Schrock (Social Studies); and May Nurenberg (World Languages). The board recessed five minutes at 7:15 p.m. to congratulate the honorees and reconvened at 7:22 p.m.
Senior Matti Aldrich, the student representative, updated the board on winter sports (boys basketball recap; wrestling victory over Rockford; girls basketball opening the next night), the high school band and choir concert, a German student trip to Chicago, a Christmas door decoration contest with winners receiving donuts, and upcoming Christmas-themed spirit days the following week.
Board members thanked principals and presenters for the updates and praised the student recognitions and the district's effort to follow up on program impacts.
