The Mountain Lake City Council on April 6 adopted Ordinance No. 5-26 to establish a 3% local lodging tax intended to support tourism.
City Administrator Michael Mueller told the council that the city has not had a hotel within its limits for several decades and that a new hotel currently under construction creates the option to establish a lodging tax. He said the proposed ordinance mirrors the City of Windom and sets the rate at 3 percent.
Council member Bryan Bargen moved to approve Ordinance No. 5-26; Council member Jeff Jack seconded. The motion carried, 4–0, with Mayor Mike Nelson and Council members Andrew Ysker and Jeff Jack voting yes.
The transcript does not specify an effective date for the ordinance.
