Stockbridge council approves bills, SDDA report and appointments; hires PD assistant and appoints clerk

The Village of Stockbridge council meeting on Sept. 18, 2025, included a series of routine approvals and personnel actions.
Bills and financial matters: On a motion by Morehouse seconded by Howlett, the council approved payment of bills totaling $145,736.77 by roll call; ayes were recorded from Cattell, Morehouse, Fairbotham, Powers-Taylor, Howlett and Ogden, with Good absent.
SDDA matters and appointments: President Ogden moved (supported by Cattell) to accept the SDDA State Financial Report for FY 2024; the motion passed by voice vote. Ogden then moved (supported by Cattell) to appoint Rebecca Cavanaugh and Amanda Urquart to the SDDA board; both appointments were approved.
Intergovernmental and events approvals: The council appointed Heather Armstrong as authorized signer for the DNR memorandum of understanding. It approved the Homecoming Parade and related MDOT temporary road closure permit for Sept. 19, 2025, and approved the Festival of Lights Parade and MDOT permit for Nov. 29, 2025.
Personnel: The council approved hiring an administrative assistant for the Police Department at $15.00 per hour for 10 to 20 hours per week. President Ogden moved (supported by Cattell) to appoint Robyn Hanson as Clerk, with pay to be outlined in an offer, and to post the Treasurer position; the motion passed by roll call with the same recorded ayes and absence as earlier votes.
Public comment and council remarks: During public comment resident Tom Ford asked whether DNR property can be zoned residential; the minutes do not record an answer. Council members raised local concerns including updating the Stockbridge entrance sign, staff transitions, and the village deer population. The meeting adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
