County facilities projects move forward; alarm-system cellular upgrade approved

Facilities Manager Jeremy Pouska updated the commission May 20 on multiple county building projects and equipment changes and won the commission’s consensus to proceed with a cellular alarm reporting upgrade.
Pouska said ADA-compliant concrete has been poured and will be marked with signage, and that concrete for the pig barn is scheduled to be poured on Wednesday. He reported water-line work is underway to prepare for replacement wash racks, and that mapping of the county’s water lines is incomplete, requiring exploratory work that will aid future projects. He confirmed temporary power and demolition work for the Search & Rescue building will start next week, with anticipated completion around Sept. 1.
Pouska presented an agreement from Rocky Mountain Fire System Inc. to change alarm reporting from land lines to cellular because current land-line equipment is not compatible with monitoring. He said equipment costs are $759 and monitoring is $48 per month; he expects equipment costs to fit within his budget and noted reduced phone-line costs may offset monitoring fees. By consensus the commission approved moving forward with the recommended alarm upgrade.
Pouska also reported floor resurfacing in the Land Planning basement is nearly complete and outlined additional work required to reassemble the basement meeting spaces.
