Fair Manager Catherine Foss told the commission the Fair Board has struggled to make the cuts requested because the fair budget has been repeatedly overspent.
Foss said the board agreed to reduce entertainment costs by keeping the same band for two nights rather than hiring a second act. She also raised questions about an invoice from Traveling Computers for an internet access point upgrade in the Multi-Purpose Building; Foss said she believes the work may not be complete and that the billed amount exceeded a TCT quote by $36 for shipping. The commission asked staff to contact IT to confirm completion and billed amounts, and to review wiring related to the fire suppression system.
Foss presented pig-pen panel options and told commissioners that if the board places an order with their selected vendor delivery and vendor setup would be guaranteed by July 15. Commissioner Dave Neves moved to approve the purchase as requested by the Fair Board; the motion was seconded and carried.
Commissioners also noted that pens with unshared backs provide flexibility for other fair uses when not used for pigs. The meeting record shows the executive session on Fair personnel took place and was adjourned with no action taken.
