The SCHUYLER COMMUNITY SCHOOLS safety committee told the board that the district's Navigate 360 visitor-management system and drill-logging features are now active.
The committee reported a case where the visitor-management system flagged a name matching an entry in a sex-offender registry. The committee established a protocol: the school staff member who checks in a flagged visitor should escort that person to the district office for an administrative review and notify building administration so the district office can prepare. The safety report said responses will be evaluated case by case depending on the registry details and risk level.
Committee members described work-arounds with substitutes (vendor currently lacks an ideal substitute pool and the district is temporarily logging substitutes as staff), ongoing tests of wearable panic-button devices, and planned placement of panic buttons and fobs across buildings. The district also discussed communications vulnerabilities during internet outages and is exploring radios as a backup to maintain intercom/phone communications.
Officer Terrell and the safety committee emphasized training and the planned testing schedule for the system; all drills and logs will be recorded through the vendor site. The board did not take formal action but noted follow-up on implementation timing and cost-savings opportunities with vendors.
