After amendment, Norwell approves reduced Boardwalk restoration funding

The Community Preservation Committee originally proposed $2.7 million from CPA undesignated funds for rehabilitation and restoration of the boardwalk. The Advisory Board voted 4–3 not to recommend the Article as originally presented. During the Special Town Meeting Mr. Glen Fergerson moved to amend the dollar amount to $1,900,000; the Moderator called the vote on the amendment and declared it passed by majority vote. The amended motion was then voted and carried by majority voice vote.
The warrant directs that any approved CPA appropriation be expended under the direction of the Community Preservation Committee and the Highway Surveyor. The amended appropriation reduces the requested draw from CPA reserves compared with the original proposal; the Advisory Board's split recommendation reflected differing views on scope and funding priorities.
The action concluded the Special Town Meeting business before the Annual Town Meeting convened later the same evening.
