Port Clinton council adopts housing partnership and budget ordinances; waives liquor hearing

At its March 24 meeting the council adopted Ordinance 9-26 (housing partnership) and Ordinance 10-26 (appropriations) and unanimously waived its right to a hearing on a Riverside Cantina liquor permit; two park-related ordinances were deferred to April 14.
Port Clinton City Council on March 24 approved a trio of routine items and deferred others to a later meeting. Council retained the emergency clause and adopted Ordinance 9-26, approving a Community Housing Impact and Preservation 2026 partnership agreement between the city and Ottawa County. Council also adopted Ordinance 10-26, making appropriations for city expenses for fiscal year 2026.
Both ordinances were approved by unanimous roll-call votes (7-0). Motions to retain the emergency clause and to adopt Ordinance 9-26 were made by Jerry Tarolli and seconded by Avery Robinson. Pat Hovis moved to adopt Ordinance 10-26; Beth Gillman seconded.
Council also accepted correspondence from the county budget commission and a notice from the Ohio Division of Liquor Control regarding a new permit for Riverside Cantina, 255 W. Lakeshore Drive. Beth Gillman moved and Cathy King seconded a motion to waive the council’s right to a hearing; the motion carried 7-0.
Two park-related ordinances—Ordinance 12-26 (Lakeview Park concession license) and Ordinance 13-26 (amended right-of-entry with the Port Clinton Lighthouse Conservancy at Waterworks Park)—received no action and were scheduled for third reading on April 14, 2026.
