The Athens Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors voted unanimously Wednesday to accept the Annual Financial Report (AFR) for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2025, after auditors reported an unmodified opinion and no exceptions or deficiencies.
Ken Willis of Patillo, Brown & Hill LLP presented the audit overview and told the board the report received an unmodified opinion, the highest level of assurance, and that the AFR was "clean with no exceptions or deficiencies." Finance Director Sarah Smith introduced Willis and answered several follow-up questions alongside him. Director Robert Hoover publicly applauded the finance team for their work.
Following the presentation and a brief period of board questions, Robert Hoover moved to accept the AFR and Bryan Clemmons seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. The special session, called to order by Board President Brady Autry at 8:00 a.m., adjourned at 8:26 a.m. The meeting minutes were later marked "Passed and approved this 21st day of April 2026."
