County staff proposes 11% increase to solid waste and recycling fees; recycling center sold 43,868 pounds of cardboard

Solid Waste Director Mike Hake told the Cloud County Board of Commissioners on June 22 that the Transfer Station wall was inspected and the inspection report will be forwarded to the county engineer for evaluation.
Hake reported the Recycling Center sold 43,868 pounds of cardboard and said the center is receiving $90 per ton for cardboard. He told the board he will prepare a resolution to increase solid waste and recycling fees by 11%; the minutes note fees have not been increased since 2022. The board did not vote on a fee increase at the meeting; Hake will draft a resolution for future consideration.
No implementation timetable or effective date for any fee change was provided in the minutes. County staff will present the proposed resolution for formal action at a later meeting.
