Pittman Center board approves sign ordinance first reading, raises permit fees and OKs sale of Tunis Road property

At its Dec. 18, 2025 meeting, the Town of Pittman Center Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously approved the first reading of Ordinance No. 343 (amending Section 11-410 for sign provisions), updated the building permit fee schedule, and authorized sale of the Tunis Road property at no less than appraised value.
The Town of Pittman Center Board of Mayor and Aldermen met Dec. 18, 2025; Mayor Jerry Huskey called the meeting to order at 4:49 p.m. and recorded attendance. The board approved the Nov. 20, 2025 meeting minutes by unanimous voice vote.
Vice Mayor Kevin Howard moved and Alderman Steve McCarter seconded a motion to approve the first reading of Ordinance No. 343, which amends Section 11-410 of the town zoning ordinance concerning sign provisions. With all ayes, the motion passed, advancing the ordinance on its first reading.
A separate motion led by Alderman Billy McCarty, seconded by Vice Mayor Kevin Howard, updated the town's building permit fee schedule. The board approved the following structure: $0–$100,000: $110; $100,001 and up: $110 for the first $100,000 plus $3.00 for each additional $1,000. The motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Jerry Huskey moved, and Alderman Steve McCarter seconded, a motion to sell the Tunis Road property to a single buyer for no less than the appraised value; the board approved the sale unanimously.
In other business the board directed that replaced road signs be transferred to surplus and advertised for auction. Alderwoman Cheryl Ogle requested that the recently installed Blessing Box be promoted on the town's Facebook page and website; the request was noted for follow-up.
Chief of Police Andrew Clark and City Administrator Tammy Watts Rochester each delivered routine reports; the transcript records that reports were given but does not include their contents. The board adjourned at 5:48 p.m.
