The East Windsor Board of Education voted unanimously to extend the district strategic plan through 2027 so the district can concentrate community engagement efforts on school construction work this year.
Superintendent Patrick told board members that the FY27 superintendent's initial budget is about 60% complete and will be distributed in board packets on Friday, Jan. 23; he said the budget will be filed with the town the same day and the public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12. He noted that while board members will receive the document in advance, formal deliberations will occur after the public hearing.
A motion to extend the strategic plan through 2027 was made and seconded; the board approved the extension by voice vote. Board members said the move will allow outreach and communications resources to focus on the renovation referendum work this spring and that, should a referendum pass or fail, the results will inform next steps for updating the strategic plan in 2027.
No changes to the budget were made at the meeting; staff will return with the full FY27 proposal on Jan. 23 and a public hearing is scheduled for Feb. 12.
