Mulga council appoints four to park board, approves half the Haunt supply cost

Mulga, AL — The Mulga Town Council appointed four residents to the town park board and approved funding to cover half the cost of building materials for the town’s annual Haunt at its April 7 meeting.
Gage Kelley moved to appoint Eddie Brown, Cindy Brown, Robert Miles and Brittney Nalley to the park board; Lelan Taylor seconded. The motion passed on a roll call vote with Seat 1, Seat 2, Seat 3, Seat 4, Seat 5 and Mayor W. Keith Varner voting yes.
Earlier in the pre-council session a council member identified as Seat 2 said, “I have a quote from Fountain Building Supply for $3,649.63 to purchase building materials for the Haunt. I am requesting that the town consider paying for half of it.” Council then considered a motion from Gage Kelley to provide $1,824.68 to the park board to purchase the supplies; Lisa Armstrong seconded.
On the supply funding vote, Seat 1, Seat 2, Seat 3, Seat 4 and Mayor Varner voted yes; Seat 5 voted no, producing a 5–1 outcome in favor of funding.
The council’s action directs the park board to use the funds to purchase the specified materials from Fountain Building Supply. The council did not record additional conditions or a repayment plan as part of that approval.
The council also handled routine business earlier in the meeting, including approving the March 5, 2026 minutes and bills for payment.
