Committee recommends Tom Flarey for Rockport seat on Essex Northshore Technical School committee

Flarey introduced himself, said he lives in Rockport and that his daughter attends Rockport High. He described a background in employment law and experience representing schools and said he expects to serve on the Personnel committee if appointed. "I became interested in it ... our daughter is at Rockport High," he said, explaining he was encouraged to apply when a prior seat-holder left the post vacant.
After questions about the Personnel committee’s role, a motion to recommend Flarey was made, seconded and approved by the committee. Chair Kathy Riley said the recommendation will be forwarded to the Rockport town moderator, who, under the Essex Tech bylaws, makes the official appointment.
The committee did not conduct a separate public confirmation vote; the action at the meeting was a forwarding recommendation consistent with the district’s appointment procedure.
