Board approves HIB acknowledgements, field trips and district wellness and safety reports

The Waterford Township Board of Education approved several education-focused items during its Feb. 11 meeting, including Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) report acknowledgements, field-trip approvals, and submissions required under state law.
The board acknowledged receipt of and affirmed HIB investigations as listed in the meeting attachments and approved field trips for the 2025–26 school year: a kindergarten trip to Diggerland, USA (May 29, 2026) with admission and transportation costs noted, and at least one second-grade trip to Cape May Zoo (dates and transportation/parking costs recorded). The board also approved the 2026–27 school calendar and the submission of the School Self-Assessment for Determining Grades under the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act to the New Jersey Department of Education for the 2025–26 school year.
District safety and wellness reporting was included in monthly materials: the drill log lists dates, types of drills (fire, shelter in place, code blue, active shooter drill) and student/staff participation counts at Atco and Waterford Elementary School; the suspension report shows seven out-of-school suspensions recorded at Waterford Elementary School for the reporting period. The board also received a staff placement approval for community health nursing clinical hours and accepted the Annual District Wellness Summary progress report for 2025–26.
These items were approved on the superintendent’s recommendation and are recorded in the board minutes. The district will proceed with the approved field trips subject to the usual transportation and chaperone arrangements recorded in the attachments.
