The Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors accepted a resignation and appointed a replacement at its meeting Sept. 3, 2024.
Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen moved to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Chris Newman; Supervisor Ryan Nelson seconded and the motion carried 3-0. Andy Christensen was sworn in as a township supervisor during the meeting, according to minutes recorded by Clerk-Treasurer Alana Paumen.
The board also approved the Aug. 20, 2024 minutes and the List of Claims/Disbursements. Geyen moved to approve the minutes and later moved to approve claims; Nelson seconded both motions. Both motions carried 4-0.
In a brief reorganization, Geyen moved to appoint Mike Helman chairman; Andy Christensen seconded. Helman abstained from that vote and the motion carried. Helman then moved to appoint Geyen vice chairman; Nelson seconded and Geyen abstained. Both leadership motions were recorded as carried by the board.
The meeting closed after routine items and a motion to adjourn by Vice Chairman Geyen, seconded by Nelson, which carried 4-0.
Next steps: the board plans to discuss proposed projects and the township budget at its Oct. 1, 2024 meeting.
