Jefferson County Commissioners on June 25 approved a subrecipient agreement to move forward with the Telegraph Hill–Rykers Ridge sewer project after presentation by Patty Jackson of SIRPC.
Jackson said the project has received a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant and that the sewer entity had already signed the agreement, which was shared for review and signature by the county attorney. Commissioners were told Jefferson County must serve as the official grant applicant even though the projects benefit the fairgrounds and Ryker's Ridge Water Company.
Commissioner David Bramer moved to approve the CDBG funding project for the sewer district wastewater grant; Commissioner Ron Lee seconded and the motion carried. The agreement and related documents will proceed to county attorney review and signature as part of the implementation process.
The county also received updates on related projects: income surveys were mailed to selected households to determine eligibility for grant funding for a Rykers Ridge water tower and a 4H community building for the Jefferson County Agricultural Association, and residents were urged to complete and return the surveys.
