At the Aug. 28 work session, members of the Shrewsbury Plan Commission discussed a possible change to Code 420.010, which currently states that six citizens are appointed by the mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen. Commissioners said it is difficult to get a quorum under the current six-member provision and discussed increasing membership to nine.
City Clerk Katelyn Wands said she would raise the matter with the Board of Aldermen. No formal motion or ordinance change was made at the meeting; the topic was recorded as a discussion and a next step for the clerk to consult the Board.
If the Board of Aldermen pursues a formal amendment, the change would require conforming ordinance language and a subsequent vote by the Board.
