Shrewsbury schedules November budget open houses for public input
Summary
The Board set Budget Open House dates on Nov. 7 and Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. to allow residents to review and comment on the draft budget; the Finance Commission is scheduled to meet at the end of November, per the meeting record (which also contains an attendance inconsistency regarding the finance director).

Alderman John Odenwald proposed holding two Budget Open Houses on Nov. 7 and Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. to give residents more opportunities to review and comment on the city's proposed budgets.
The meeting minutes record Finance Director Henrietta Brown as agreeing that those dates would give the public more time to weigh in and noted the Finance Commission would meet at the end of November. The minutes also list Brown as absent in the meeting roll call at the start of the session; the record is internally inconsistent on her attendance.
Alderperson Beth Parker and Alderman Odenwald said they will research how other municipalities structure public input and asked the city clerk to contact nearby cities including Glendale and Overland for examples. No final procedural changes to the budget schedule were recorded beyond the two open‑house dates.
The board did not provide a detailed agenda for the open houses during the session; staff and commissioners will determine the format and materials to be presented at a later date as part of the budget process.
