Morrison board approves grant match, authorizes roof bids and holds first readings of two zoning ordinances

The Town of Morrison Board of Mayor and Aldermen moved through a series of administrative and land-use items at its regular meeting on Aug. 4, 2025, approving grant and procurement actions and introducing two zoning ordinances on first reading.
Jeannine Miller proposed applying for a Foundation of Rural Services grant of $5,000 to be used for additional playground equipment in Morrison Town Park and noted the grant requires a $5,000 town match. Adam Bouldin moved to apply for the grant and provide the required match; the motion was seconded by Sue Jones and carried unanimously.
Mayor Sue Anderson reported that a recent inspection of the Morrison Public Library roof found missing shingles and a significant amount of shingle shavings. The board voted unanimously to advertise for bids to replace the library roof after Adam Bouldin moved and Jeannine Miller seconded the motion.
On personnel, Mayor Anderson sought volunteers for employee evaluations. Adam Bouldin and Jeannine Miller volunteered, and Samantha Bouldin moved—seconded by Sue Jones—that Mayor Anderson, Adam Bouldin and Jeannine Miller participate in this year’s evaluation process; the motion passed unanimously.
On land use, the board introduced two zoning measures for first reading. Ordinance No. 25-03 (McClaran request) proposes rezoning property at 10157 Manchester Highway from R-1 (Low Density Residential) to C-2 (General Commercial); Jeannine Miller moved for first-reading passage and the board approved unanimously. Ordinance No. 25-04 would amend lot density requirements for multi-family residential structures in the R-2 and C-2 districts; Adam Bouldin moved for first-reading passage and the motion carried unanimously.
