The Atlantic Beach Town Council on June 16 authorized two six-month contract extensions and filled a volunteer vacancy on the Beautification Committee.
Interim Town Manager Linda Cheatham told council the extension for the building code enforcement officer would cover an additional six months. "We need to extend his contract," Cheatham said, and Councilwoman Carla Taylor moved to authorize the Town Manager to extend the code enforcement officer's contract for six months; Councilman Edward Lamar Campbell seconded. Roll-call votes were recorded in favor.
Cheatham also recommended a six-month extension for the town's media consultant, Michael Wright, noting Wright has "been doing a very good job with us and working to reduce costs." Council discussed whether to negotiate a new contract but agreed to the temporary extension so Wright could attend future discussions; Campbell moved the extension, Taylor seconded, and the motion passed on roll call.
On appointments, Cheatham said property owners had volunteered to serve on the Beautification Committee. Councilwoman Taylor moved to appoint Valda Gibson and Jerry Finney; Councilman Campbell seconded and the appointments were approved by roll call.
All personnel and contract votes recorded the three council members present voting in favor.
