Board authorizes ban from city property after executive session and directs moratoria drafts on used-car lots and gas stations

During an executive session Nov. 4 the Florence board authorized a letter banning Michael C. Rayborn from City Hall and police property; the board also directed the City Attorney to update a moratorium on used-car lots and to draft a moratorium limiting the number of service/gas stations.
During its Nov. 4 meeting the Florence Board of Mayor and Aldermen entered executive session to discuss a personnel matter concerning the police department's dispatcher position. While in executive session, the board authorized City Attorney Bobby Lingold to send a letter from the mayor and board informing Michael C. Rayborn that he will no longer be permitted on City Hall or Florence Police Department property. The motion in executive session was made by Alderman Mason Herrin and seconded by Alderman Kyle Martin; a roll call recorded Aldermen John Banks and Brian Grantham as absent and Herrin, Martin and Brent Sistrunk as Aye.
Separately, in open session the board directed the City Attorney to update an existing board order concerning a moratorium on used-car lots and authorized drafting a separate moratorium to limit the number of service/gas stations in the city. Both motions carried unanimously.
The board returned to open session at 6:55 p.m. and adjourned the meeting.
