The Florence board met in executive session July 15, 2025, to discuss a personnel matter in the police department. Following staff recommendations from Chief Burns the board accepted the resignations of Officer Cody Parfait and Officer David Dear, both effective July 9, 2025. Each resignation was accepted by roll‑call vote with Aldermen John Banks, Brian Grantham, Mason Herrin, Kyle Martin and Brent Sistrunk recorded voting Aye.
Also in executive session the board voted to hire Canyon Bilbro as a full‑time patrolman at $21.06 per hour, with a start date of July 17, 2025, contingent upon a successful background check and drug and alcohol testing. The hire motion passed by roll‑call vote with the same aldermen recorded as voting Aye.
The board returned to open session at 7:15 p.m. and adjourned; details of the personnel discussion were recorded in the minutes only as motions and roll‑call votes, consistent with the executive‑session nature of the discussion.
