Harrietstown board approves warrants and airport hires, permits alcohol at Plein Air Festival

The Town of Harrietstown Board approved multiple routine and personnel actions at its July 25, 2024 meeting, including large airport fund payments, a zoning board appointment, a five‑year copier lease and two airport hires.
Supervisor Mallach called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m.; Councilwoman Tracey Schrader, Councilwoman Ashley Milne, Councilman John Williams and Councilman Jeremy Evans were present. The board voted to accept the minutes of the July 11 meeting on a motion by Councilman John Williams that was seconded and carried.
The board reviewed Warrant #14 of 2024 and approved payment. The warrant included: General Fund $14,409.48; Airport Fund $216,326.34; General Fund Outside $171.62; Highway Fund Outside $5,760.10; Trust and Agency $20,264.81; and Water and Sewer $19,690.46. The board also approved multiple Passero invoices tied to FAA airport projects.
The board approved several motions by unanimous voice vote (recorded as m/s/p). Councilwoman Tracey Schrader moved, and Councilman John Williams seconded, to allow Saranac Lake Art Works to serve alcohol at the Adirondack Plein Air Festival at Town Hall Aug. 15–17; the motion carried. Councilman Jeremy Evans moved, and Councilwoman Tracey Schrader seconded, to appoint Darralyn Wenske to a three‑year term on the Harrietstown Zoning Board; that motion carried.
Harrietstown Town Clerk Sabrina Harrison requested authority to sign a new five‑year Konica Minolta lease for the clerk’s copier. Councilwoman Tracey Schrader moved to authorize the clerk to sign the contract; Councilwoman Ashley Milne seconded and the board approved the contract authorization.
Airport Manager Corey Hurwitch asked for approval to fill vacant airport positions. The board entered executive session at 6:38 p.m. under section (f) to discuss personnel matters; the session ended at 6:54 p.m. After returning to open session the board voted to fill one Airport Service Worker position and to fill a second Airport Service Worker position pending verification of references. Motions to enter and exit executive session and to fill the positions were recorded with movers and seconders on the record.
With committee assignments and communications noted, the board adjourned at 7:02 p.m. on a motion by Councilman John Williams that was seconded by Councilman Jeremy Evans.
