Council approves routine resolutions, re-awards $123,106 lighting contract for pickleball courts

Spring Lake Heights' Borough Council approved a package of routine resolutions at its May 4 meeting, including environmental remediation, contract re-award for park lighting, personnel appointments and payment of bills.
Contract re-award: The council approved Resolution R2026-102 to rescind an earlier award and re-award the installation of lights at the Bicentennial Park pickleball courts to Musco Lighting LLC for $123,106. Borough Engineer Joseph May explained the change permits use of a different cooperative purchasing agent while leaving cost and scope unchanged. The motion passed unanimously.
Environmental remediation: Resolution R2026-101 authorizing remediation of an unregulated heating oil tank system at Block 58 Lot 4 was approved unanimously.
Licenses and personnel: The council approved R2026-103, a one-day Alcoholic Beverage Control extension of premises for The Shore Club, and R2026-104 appointing summer recreation program employees and designating salaries. The bills list (R2026-105) was approved; Councilman John Casagrande was recorded as abstaining on that vote.
Other consent items approved included donations of surplus fire equipment and extension of a shared services dispatch agreement; R2026-95 (outdoor music at The Shore Club) had been removed from the consent agenda and tabled for further review.
