During public comment at the May 4 meeting, Joan Brady of 600 Essex Ave. raised concerns about Resolution R2026-95, which would have approved outdoor music at The Shore Club. Mayor Christopher Campion asked council members to pull the resolution from the consent agenda to allow more discussion between borough officials and the organization. The council then moved to table R2026-95; the motion to table was approved unanimously.
Also during the public comment period, Karen Burke of 606 Shore Road thanked the borough and partners for removing the kayak launch from Wreck Pond on behalf of Sixth Avenue, Jersey Avenue and Shore Road residents.
Why it matters: permits for outdoor music affect neighborhood noise, public safety planning, and local businesses that rely on special events. The council did not take final action on R2026-95 on May 4 and tabled the measure to allow staff and the Shore Club to address resident concerns prior to further council consideration.
Next steps: R2026-95 remains tabled; the council instructed staff to continue discussions with the Shore Club and will return the resolution to the agenda when issues are resolved or additional information is provided.
