The Shelburne Climate & Energy Committee voted June 25 to begin a coordinated update of the Energy Section of the town’s 2019 Town Plan and asked members to prepare draft recommendations ahead of the July meeting.
Committee members said they lack clarity on the Planning Commission’s process and timing and will seek guidance from Aaron, the town planner, and Steve Kendall, chair of the Planning Commission. Each committee member was asked to review the 2019 Energy Section and come prepared to comment at the July meeting so the committee can set priorities and timelines.
The committee agreed that discrete work teams or partner groups should take on portions of the section between meetings, develop recommendations, and return to the full committee with prioritized actions. The recommended actions should identify responsible person(s) and timed benchmarks where feasible, the committee said.
As a first data step, the committee directed Steve Booth to contact “EV” for updated information on local energy usage and projected targets to inform the update. The committee did not specify in the minutes whether “EV” refers to a particular organization or internal dataset.
The committee approved the meeting agenda and prior minutes at the start of the session and adjourned at 6:05 p.m. The next meeting will include member feedback on the 2019 Energy Section and any guidance received from the Planning Commission.
