Waterford Township Board of Education elects Matthew DeNafo president, approves routine appointments

The Waterford Township Board of Education unanimously elected Matthew DeNafo as board president and Barbara Libak Fanz as vice president during its Jan. 5, 2026, reorganization meeting at Waterford Elementary School. The board also administered oaths to newly elected members and approved a slate of routine administrative appointments and banking authorizations.
Howard Long, the district solicitor, administered the Oath of Office to newly and re-elected members Jason Galante, Thomas Leach and Stephen Umosella. The clerk reported official municipal election results: Jason Galante, 3,098 votes; Thomas Leach, 2,779 votes; write-in Stephen Umosella, 113 votes, and noted the county’s official results are posted online.
All nine board members were recorded present for the reorganization: Matthew DeNafo, Benjamin De Vuyst, Barbara Libak Fanz, Jason Galante, Rosemarie Hunter, Thomas Leach, Michael McClintock, Ehren O'Donnell and Stephen Umosella. Dr. Michael A. Nolan, superintendent, and Christopher Eberly, business administrator/board secretary, were listed as present.
Elections: Ehren O'Donnell nominated DeNafo for president; O'Donnell moved the approval and Jason Galante seconded. The board took a roll call vote in which every member present voted yes. For vice president, Benjamin De Vuyst nominated Libak Fanz; a motion to approve her was made by Rosemarie Hunter and seconded by Michael McClintock, and the board again voted unanimously.
Administrative approvals: By roll call, the board approved items A through I on the consent slate. Those items included adopting current district policies and job descriptions; adoption of the Code of Ethics; delegate and alternate appointments to the Camden County School Boards Association (Ehren O'Donnell delegate, Barbara Libak Fanz alternate) and the New Jersey School Boards Association (Michael McClintock delegate, Stephen Umosella alternate); appointment of Benjamin De Vuyst to the Camden County Educational Services Commission with Jason Galante as alternate; appointment of Rosemarie Hunter as the district’s representative to the Hammonton Board of Education; designation of authorized depositories including TD Bank and the New Jersey Cash Management Fund (and other banks for competitive CD bids); approval of bank accounts and signatories; and appointment of Christopher Eberly as the district’s Public Agency Compliance Officer.
Public comment: The board opened both agenda-specific and general public comment periods by motion; no members of the public addressed the board in either period.
The board recorded no old business and no new business. A motion to adjourn, made by Rosemarie Hunter and seconded by Jason Galante, carried by unanimous voice consent, and the meeting concluded at 5:18 p.m.
