Ridgetop board unanimously approves mowing bids, waives park fee and authorizes hiring ad

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen for the City of Ridgetop approved several routine motions during the March 18, 2025 meeting, including advertising for summer mowing, waiving a park rental fee for an Easter service, and authorizing advertisement to hire a utility worker.

Vice Mayor Harrison moved to advertise bids for summer mowing for Ridgetop Station Park and the Train Museum; Alderman Gregory seconded and the motion carried with all members voting aye. Vice Mayor Harrison later moved to waive the park rental fee to allow Ridgetop First Baptist to hold its Easter service on the park lawn; Alderman Gilmore seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

Mayor Tim Shaw moved to amend the agenda to include hiring a utility employee; Vice Mayor Harrison seconded and the amendment passed. Shaw then moved to advertise for a utility worker for the remainder of the current fiscal year and the upcoming fiscal year; Alderman Gregory seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The board also scheduled a city workshop for April 15, 2025, at 5:30 p.m.; Vice Mayor Harrison moved and Alderman Martin seconded that motion, which passed.

Other administrative items recorded in the minutes included approval of the February 18, 2025 minutes (moved by Alderman Gregory, seconded by Vice Mayor Harrison) and reports that sealed bids for the Lake Road project are due April 1, 2025 at 9:30 a.m., and that utility crews installed roughly 400 feet of sewer main on Woodruff Ave. The meeting adjourned after completing business.
