Board reviews 2024 SAT results and sets goals for 2025–26 school year

Superintendent Earl C. Clymer III reported district and peer SAT averages at the Warren Hills Regional Board of Education meeting on Sept. 9.

The 2024 average scores listed by the administration showed Warren Hills at 1098; Hackettstown 1095; North Warren 1088; Warren Tech 1084; Phillipsburg 1058; Belvidere 961; New Jersey state average 1049; and the national average 1024. The superintendent presented these figures as part of the district’s early-year assessment review.

The board adopted district goals for 2025–26 intended to raise the percentage of students who are “graduation ready” on the NJGPA-Adaptive Math and ELA assessments by using the Curriculum Monitoring and Assessment Plan and the Annual School Plan to measure growth. The board also endorsed strategies to improve culture and climate by facilitating at least two in-district programs and committed to implementing a Sheltered English Instruction program with a 15-hour, self-paced training for certificated and non-certificated staff; the target completion date is May 29, 2026, with a stated goal of over 95% staff completion.

Administrators also reminded families of Back to School Night events (WHRHS Sept. 10; WHRMS Sept. 11) and noted a half-day dismissal on Sept. 12. The Sept. 23 board meeting was canceled; the next regular meeting was scheduled for Oct. 14.

The report was informational; no formal votes were taken on the SAT figures themselves. The goals and calendar items will guide district programming and professional development during the 2025–26 school year.
