Bound Brook council holds organizational meeting; Brintjevic chosen council president

He also recognized the recent send-off for Chief Calambrone as "well deserved." The mayor read a proclamation honoring former councilman Vinny Petty for more than 16 years of service and his roles as police commissioner and chair of the parking commission.
A council member nominated Linda Brintjevic to serve as council president; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The council also moved to accept the borough bylaws for 2025; that motion carried. Mayor Longo announced committee chair assignments for the year, naming Councilman David Morris as finance chair, Councilwoman Linda Brintjevic for public works/buildings/grounds/utilities, Councilman Rossi as public safety chair, Councilman Lopez for personnel/administration/ordinance, Councilman Mark Speed for economic development and Councilman Guerra for zoning/construction/code enforcement.
The council adopted a package of consent resolutions by motion and voice vote. Mayor Longo summarized the consent items as including adoption of police department rules and regulations, appointments of municipal professionals, a temporary budget to carry the borough until the final budget is adopted, a health services confirmation resolution, and confirmation of the board of engineers and related police department items.
Gail Warner led attendees in the national anthem before the roll call. After a brief round of remarks from newly seated and returning council members expressing thanks and intentions to serve, the mayor invited public comments; none were offered. The meeting concluded with an announcement that refreshments would be served in the theater and a motion to adjourn, which carried.
