Campobello continues sewer planning; council to research compact package wastewater units

Town Administrator Trey Eubanks told the council on April 13 that quarterly reporting has been submitted to the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (SCRIA) on the town's sewer project and that expenditures to date have largely covered engineering and feasibility work.
In old business Mayor Aaron Ash and Council Member Joe McDowell summarized a visit to Chimney Rock where officials observed a package wastewater treatment unit said to be compact, quiet and capable of handling similar service demands. The council obtained contact information for Chimney Rock’s engineering team and directed staff to coordinate with the town engineer and research municipalities that have used similar systems to evaluate long‑term performance, capacity, maintenance and visual impact before any decision about siting in Campobello.
Council members noted placement would be carefully considered to minimize visual impacts and to ensure compatibility with surrounding areas. No final procurement or siting decision was made; further updates were expected after coordination with engineers and additional data collection.
