Cheraw’s Town Council approved Change Order #3 for work on the wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system serving the north end of town, a project that extends to the industrial park.
Town staff said the third change order includes several items that arose during construction — additional and upsized manholes, a generator, preparations to accommodate variable‑frequency drive pumps at a pump station and other related work — and totals approximately $193,000. Staff said the work is necessary to complete the project and the change order will be paid from the water/sewer fund balance.
The project is scheduled to be completed within the next 30 days, staff said. Council approved the change order by voice vote after brief discussion; staff noted the fund balance would remain adequate after the change order and that some federal EPA grant work could affect future budgeting but is expected to be accounted for in project-level funding.
