Board flags nine registrations at Ocilla Rainbow Drive address; final challenges deferred until July

Elections staff alerted the Irwin County Board of Elections & Registrations to ten active registrations and/or applications associated with a single family residence on Rainbow Drive in Ocilla.
Supervisor Ethan Compton said one flagged application belonged to an individual listed as an active felon who had repeatedly attempted to register and vote provisionally; staff said that application was rejected and forwarded to investigators to be added to an existing case file. The other nine registrations appear to involve overlapping household records where previous occupants did not update driver-licence addresses, staff said.
The office mailed a verification request asking current residents to confirm names and birth years; staff reported receiving no response and said Chairman Waymond Harris attempted in-person contact on multiple occasions without success. Staff said they intend to challenge the nine remaining registrations associated with the Rainbow Drive address but will not make a final determination until July because state law bars deciding challenges within 45 days of an election.
No board vote on the individual challenges was recorded at the May 22 meeting; staff indicated final determinations will be scheduled for July consistent with statutory timing.
