Irwin County elections board reconvenes and certifies May 19 primary results

The Irwin County Board of Elections & Registrations reconvened at 5:15 p.m. Friday and certified the results of the May 19 General Primary, Nonpartisan General and Special Election, board members said.
Member Wyatt Thompson moved to certify the results; Vice-Chair Patricia Thurman seconded and the certification passed 2-0. Once certified, winning candidates’ certificates for nonpartisan and clerk-of-court races were signed, the board said.
The meeting had opened at 3 p.m. with Chairman Waymond Harris absent; Member Thompson led the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. Earlier in the meeting the board approved an amended agenda to add a resolution recognizing a poll worker’s 40 years of service and approved previously distributed minutes, both by 2-0 votes.
The board recessed at 4:27 p.m. to prepare for certification and returned at the advertised time to complete the reconciliation and certification steps. Member Thompson moved to recess and later moved to certify; Vice-Chair Thurman seconded both motions. The meeting adjourned at 5:29 p.m.
