At the Nov. 20 Butler Board of Education meeting the superintendent reported steady progress on district referendum projects — including sanitation upgrades at RBS, an RBS roof replacement and a window project at Butler High School — and said bid specifications for those projects are expected to open in December.
The superintendent said the board would approve a renovation to convert former front offices into a new Guidance Suite; the finance resolutions later record that the guidance-office contract was awarded to BGD Contracting, LLC for a base bid of $767,000. The superintendent also said the district had uploaded its District Performance Review for QSAC monitoring and that the district’s AI professional-learning model will be presented at the statewide AI Literacy Summit on Dec. 8 by Dr. Papa, Mrs. Greco, Ms. Lynch and Mrs. Mignanelli. "Butler is not just keeping up with the future, we are helping shape it," the superintendent said during the report.
The report also noted preparations by staff and students for holiday meal and food drives: the district is organizing 102 complete holiday meals in partnership with the Butler Police and local restaurants, and National Honor Society students will help prepare and distribute food pickups for families in need. The superintendent closed the segment by celebrating Butler High School’s football team for repeating as State Sectional Champions and noted an upcoming rematch with Cedar Grove for a Group 1 State Championship berth.
