Butler board approves $767,000 guidance-office contract, capital reserve withdrawal and a package of finance measures

The Butler Board of Education on Nov. 20 approved a series of finance and contract actions, including awarding the Guidance Office Renovations contract at Butler High School to BGD Contracting, LLC for a base bid of $767,000 and authorizing a $420,690 capital-reserve withdrawal to fund the Guidance Suite project.
The board approved a package of finance motions (FIN 42-26 through FIN 53-26) that included acceptance of bills and payroll totaling $2,865,445.06, ratification of $351,463.45 in current-account bills, open purchase orders of $247,670.65, and authorization to use the PEPPM purchasing cooperative (including purchases from Amazon under the cooperative). The motions also accepted donations of $3,629.37 from the BBEA for the BHS Hall of Honor and $1,000 from the Gene Haas Foundation to support Butler High School Robotics. The board established the McConnell Future Veterinarian Scholarship ($1,500 award) and approved a parent transportation agreement costing $10,000 for the 2025–26 school year.
The board also approved change orders to the Butler High School addition project that increase the base contract by $251,791.92 and authorized the School Business Administrator to transfer up to $1,102,281 into a capital reserve account, consistent with applicable statutes. The Guidance Office contract was awarded to BGD Contracting, LLC of Park Ridge, N.J., as the lowest responsive bidder following sealed bids opened Nov. 13, 2025.
