A building department representative summarized the city’s 2024 year-end report at the Jan. 20 meeting, reporting permit and code-enforcement activity and a list of ongoing and proposed development projects.
Staff said the building department issued 141 permits in 2024 and provided a comparative listing from prior years in the meeting packet. The speaker also said the department issued occupancy and rental-permit tallies, managed vacant-property listings and handled more than a thousand code-enforcement cases; staff noted many enforcement matters were resolved without court action through compliance work by part-time code enforcement staff.
The building official reported nine current projects underway and eight proposed projects for 2025; staff emphasized these items are in the planning or inquiry stages and are not finalized developments. The representative advised the board that project details and permit revenues are included in the packet for review.
Separately, a council member said the Park Board will roll out a community parks survey this week or next, running about a month. The survey will be available via the city website and Facebook, with printed copies at city facilities and QR codes posted in public locations to encourage participation. The Park Board will use survey responses to inform planning for the year.
The building department report and the parks survey announcement were informational items; no ordinances or formal board actions were taken on these agenda items during the meeting.
