North Royalton council accepts Ward 6 resignation, opens application period

North Royalton City Council on March 17 unanimously accepted the resignation of Ward 6 Councilman Michael Wos and opened a public application period to fill the vacancy.
In a motion by Council President Paul Marnecheck, seconded by Councilman Gary Petrusky, the council voted 6–0 to accept Wos’s resignation effective March 16, 2026. Marnecheck said the resignation documents are public record and that council received 200–300 pages related to the matter earlier in the week.
Wos’s letter, filed with the council, said in part, “It is with a heavy heart but clear conviction that I submit my resignation,” and cited family reasons, including an upcoming move and a family member’s long-term illness. The letter was entered into the record by Clerk of Council Helen Dunlap.
Council staff will publish a public notice in the March 26 edition of the Royalton Recorder and will accept resumes for the Ward 6 vacancy at the Council Office until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026. Under the North Royalton City Charter, council must appoint a replacement by April 15, 2026; if council does not act by that date, the mayor is authorized to fill the vacancy.
Marnecheck said the council may schedule special work sessions or meetings to interview candidates and will circulate scheduling availability to members. Qualifications follow Article 3, paragraph (b) of the City Charter, including residency and elector requirements.
The council did not discuss particular applicants at the March 17 meeting.
